[music |The Obvious Child - Paul Simon]

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Went to London and Cyprus, Worlds, went to Massad, narguilla, went to grad, got my wisdom teeth out.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember any of the ones that I made last year, but I will remember the ones I'm making this year because they're like... actual resolutions, if that makes any sense. Like stuff that I seriously do need to work on.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, actually. Not anyone I was really close to, but someone I knew pretty well and my parents were close to.

5. What countries did you visit?
England, Cyprus.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
6 acceptance letters.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 28th-August 23rdish... can't exactly remember when camp ended officially. But that timeframe. Because it was the most amazing summer of my life.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Worlds, being Malcat HaDegel (kidding, kidding only kidding).

9. What was your biggest failure?
Interesting that I don't really remember. I guess I could name one, but it wasn't really a failure. Huh. Funny how that works out, that you really only do remember the good stuff.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Getting wisdom teeth out was pretty bad, but other than that not really, no.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Guess. (iPod, just in case you couldn't get the message from my like 57389 bajillion entries where I mention somewhere that I love it.) I actually didn't buy it... well I bought some of it, but it was the best partly-bought thing I own.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lara. Getting into the Italy program is incredible, and being the only unanimous decision from the judges' panel is even more amazing.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A couple... primarily one person.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Investments/stock market and Shmoozers. Damn Shmoozers taking so much of my money.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Camp! Except I was also soooo unbelievably nervous before I left. So I guess I'll say camp but also second session because then I already knew just how amazing it was and how good of a time I'd have.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
So many. Mr. Jones, Float On, Summertime, Hafinali, Shirat Hasticker... so many more.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I would probably say happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Hmm. A good question. I don't know, I haven't weighed myself in the longest time. Probably about the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. Tutoring is lucrative.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being bold.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I already spent it. Christmas eve we had the Posens over for dinner and then I went to Maya's, and then Christmas night we had the Zlotniks over for dinner and I saw King Kong. [Sidenote: I did the EXACT same thing, minus the King Kong and Maya thing last year except in reverse order. Like last year it went Zlotniks then Posens. It's a family tradition, always has been.]

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?

23. How many one-night stands?
None... well not like one-night stand in the traditional sense. One thing I kind of consider to be one-night-standish, but it happened in a foreign country, so...

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Weeds, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes. LB.

26. What was the best book you read?
Sex, Drugs & Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman. Also Nine Stories pulls a close second, maybe even a tie.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ben Kweller, Panic! At The Disco, Sufjan Stevens.

28. What did you want and get?
To place in top 10 at Worlds and I did.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
40-Year-Old Virgin.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 17. I fucking watched debating during the day, then came home and celebrated a little with my parents, then went to a debating party which I regret doing. It kind of sucked. But it's my 17th, like it has to suck, you know? 17 is a sucky number.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having the courage to just dooo it. Nobody knows what 'it' is, but I wish I had done it. And it's not what you think, you sick-minded people you. Who knows, there's always '06...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Layered t-shirts and tank tops. I wore a lot of that.

34. What kept you sane?
Family, friends, looking forward to things.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Mark Ruffalo.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Katrina and the government's response to it.

37. Who did you miss?
My brother when he went to university, and people from camp when camp ended.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't meet Ingo, technically this year because I think he's always been a BBYO advisor, but he was probably the one person from camp who I didn't know previously. And meeting him was pretty fucking sweet, as he is hilarious.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
If it feels good, do it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Some people say why, why, why, but I say why, why deny the obvious child?" - Paul Simon, The Obvious Child.
